New Story-Based Photojournalism Agency Launches Its Site Today

(Anarchy Images, New York, NY) - A new site on the World Wide Web enables editors — and all other photography seekers — to search and license single images as well as full in-depth photography coverage. Anarchy Images, Inc., found at www.anarchyimages.com on the World Wide Web, provides dozens of full photojournalism essays with new stories and photographers added daily.

"Anarchy Images isn't meant to be a 'one stop shop' for photography," said Jason Pagan, President and owner of Anarchy Images, Inc. The site is designed for deep photographic coverage on international social and political issues, Pagan said. "Unlike other photographic agencies, we intend to keep only a small highly focused collection. There needs to be a greater concern for quality rather than a rush to fill the internet with every available image" he said. Mr. Pagan noted that even with plans for eventual expansion into consumer and royalty free photography, the collections would remain relatively small and focused.

Another innovation is Anarchy Images: Viewfinder, currently under construction. Viewfinder is a photographers' blog and community that provides a way for participating Anarchy Images photographers to speak directly to the general public while also catering to the interests of photography professionals and enthusiasts. Each photographer and member has access to post images and blogs, and to communicate directly with everyone else in the Viewfinder community. To our knowledge no other agency has provided photographers with such unhindered access to the general public. "I decided to join Anarchy Images for two reasons," said Joseph Rodriguez, acclaimed documentary photographer and recipient of numerous awards. "Anarchy has a vision for the future and is able to move quickly while being knowledgeable about the changing technology. And even more important for me is to be with an agency that really understands what I do and understands how important and personal these stories are.. I am really excited to be working with Anarchy Images," said Mr. Rodriguez.

Jason Pagan, former Archive Director of the Black Star Photo Agency, said he decided to start Anarchy Images, Inc. in response to the lack of in-depth coverage with a single focus. "Sure, there are photographers working on large long term projects. But, how many are actually telling a story? The narrative voice in photography is almost gone. Anarchy Images is, for me, a way to show that photographers, taking their time on a project, can produce more than just images of events; they can create work truly worth remembering."
